With our continued growth and success delivering expectation-busting programmes for our customers, we were delighted to recently welcome Jamie McCoy as the latest addition to our rapidly growing team. Joining in the newly created role of Digital Director, Jamie will bring his wide-ranging experience across marketing, digital transformation, lead generation and product development to drive forward new opportunities for customers and add value to existing programmes. However, had he followed his boyhood career dream things might have been very different as he explains here.
For years when I was growing up, I had grand aspirations that I’d become an astronaut in order to satisfy my equally balanced fascination and bafflement with all things space related! Once I realised that space exploration wasn’t perhaps an ‘every day’ career, I turned attentions instead to the fire service. However, as is so often the case with the reality of career paths, things panned out quite differently and here I am now with well over a decade’s worth of experience specialising in the intersection of the marketing and digital worlds.
And whilst there are the odd occasions when I gaze up towards the stars and wonder ‘what if?’, I am truly delighted to have joined Consenna at such an exciting time in the team’s growth. I knew almost as soon as I met the team here that they shared my pragmatic approach to work and creativity and their combined experience and passion for excellence and growth was something that really struck a chord with me.
I’m never happier than when I’m being challenged, and whilst Consenna is a relatively young and lean team, it’s one that is delivering some huge projects with a vision to push further and deliver more. This really excites me, and I feel confident that my wide-ranging experience can be employed in some of our exciting customer programmes.
Joining the Consenna team this year hasn’t, however, been my only highlight. Earlier this year, I was asked to be the Digital Marketing Expert in Residence for the BIPC Centre through Glasgow Life. This entails me delivering four 45minute sessions with start-ups and small businesses each month. I’ve always been passionate about giving back and it was a real honour for me to be asked to take on this role. As for my career low, well that’s one for another time but suffice to say it involves wearing a kilt at a business event in Spain – I’ll leave the rest to your imagination!
